Compared to other styles of remote the Mercedes key differs greatly. The Mercedes remote key works on Infra Red and Radio Frequency technology. Once the signal communicates with the vehicles computer system it allows access and ignition start. Simalar to the Bmw keys it holds data from the car such as Mileage, Comfort settings and VIN.

Without the correct equipment the programming of these infra red keys can be difficult or impossible.
